Okay, so we get a lot of questions about movie baton and shortsword fighting tips, so we’re going to share a few things with you now, I’m actually an experienced stunt coordinator turned full time director. This is something I plan to do from the beginning of my career up to and including even attending and graduating film school as director. Now, along my journey, I learned that being a stunt coordinator made me a better director, and being a director made me a better stunt coordinator. And what this means to you is that I can offer insights and experience from both sides of the camera as well as all phases of production. When we thought about what would help you the most, we decided to put together this free video course that will cover the basics of movie baton and short Sword movie fighting techniques. This way, you can use it for your real upcoming auditions and even your own content. For actual performances and highly competitive auditions, you need more training like we provide in our highly popular online master course.

Why does this work? Because for self tapes, many sword auditions, mocap, and performances, you just have to look like you know how to use a, ah, movie baton or short sword. If you’re not the lead or a featured fighter, you’re going to throw anywhere from zero to two strikes and then you’re killed. Anyway, check out this following clip to see this in action.

Now, how many strikes did each performer get to throw in that action sequence? so in this video we’re going to cover movie short sword and shield fight choreography okay now we’re going to cover some basic choreography now we’re going to show you now as a professional stum performer.

You need to know both sides of the choreography not just one even if you’re being taught your part of it you need to know your partner’s side of the choreography too your dance Partners you’re not sparring so you need to know their moves they need to know your moves because you need to know how to set your strikes up perf L for them how to structure your your STP reactions so we’re going to cover his attacks

first and then we’re going to cover my counterattacks so the angles he’s going to use for the attacker is going to be angle one angle four and angle 13 and then he’s going to Shield that’s it again now you’re understanding why it was so important that you learn the 15 attacking angles first because if you’ve learn the angles you already know what the choreo his choreography is going to be so he’s going to he’s going to demonstrate it now what you’re going to observe is he’s going to keep moving he’s just going to walk normally don’t get up in your head and mess up your footwork.

He’s just going to walk normally right because in Sor fighting you’re always moving around okay you ready angle one angle four angle 13 stop right there now you see how he does at 13 he stops here because he knows his partner is going to finish here and the last part he’s going to tuck his shield into his chest like that because his partner is going to thrust him okay back to one we do that again Watch This choreography this is his half of the choreography then you’re going to observe my I’m going to learn cover my half I’ll I’m going to say action you just go at quarter performance speed and I’m going to call out the strike so you got your own recognizance action angle one angle four angle 13 and shield see that back to one this is how you learn it you break it down you know beat by beat like this we do one more time we’re going to go move on into the other part of it action angle one angle four angle 13 Shield.

All right excellent good job and that’s how you do it so we learned the first part now we’re going to go move on to the second part of the choreography all right so now we’re going to learn the second half of the choreography we’re I’m going to do this part this is actually choreography that’s designed to be a a continuous loop and it helps you maintain distance it’s kind of like doing a distance drill you kind of can see the distance drill in here yet it gets
you both used to moving and working well as as a team all right as a performance team so now he’s going to react or do a was the first this is B’s choreography so I’m going to call Action he’s going to start walking remember you’re going to maintain the distance as you’re moving and he’s going to Shield each of those strikes that came in and then finish with a Thrust all right performer are you ready action 1 4 13 great job cut back to one slow it down a bit again we’re slowing it down for camera so that just they can see it action one 4 13 and he knows he does with the thrust okay come on back and now.

The choreography so you notice he he shields for one he shields for the four he shields for the 13 and finishes with a with a Thrust a five so that’s the choreography when you’re learning this you want to learn each portion separately you want to learn that’s why even if you don’t have a partner right now it doesn’t matter because you need to learn both sides it’s all choreography anyway so now he and I are going to demonstrate it you’ll see how it works together go down slow it down and that’s how the choreography flows and you notice it’s repetitive so the moment a finishes his attacks 1413 and then he waits for the shield B is shielding for the one shielding for the four shielding for the 13 and the thrust and once B does that thrust they loot back around this is very this is like movie Caliber choreography what you’re doing a lot of it you’ll still be selling through your facial expressions your body movements things like that the way they’re going to cut it and everything this is a a great choreography to use

Sword fight training movie

and also great drill because it gets you and your partner and you notice the more he and I float with this the more we you could see the the Improvement the more you practice it the more you know each other’s movements so stop the the video now and practice A’s choreography then practice B’s choreography broken down step by step to ensure you learn it both easily and quickly lastly we’re going to share a few Pro tips with you yeah before we do check this out, so if any of the topics that we’ covered are of interest to you definitely head on over to our website.

Movie sword training online youtube free

and take the free video tour now we’ll share a pro tip with you Pro tip solo practice is how you get good now not always training with a training partner what yes you don’t you even in martial arts the people who others refer to as being Masters become Masters not because they train with other people all the time it’s because they actually invested time in Solo training now if you notice my scene partner in this video he’s actually an action actor this is his first time ever doing movie stor fight choreography right and he even had some injuries he had to you know he’s working through permanent injuries that he had yet and so in the beginning of course he didn’t look completely polished that’s natural no one’s going to few people look polished from you know the very first time yeah what did you observe each time he did it he got better and better because he learned the choreography he was paying attention to his body movements paying attention to the footwork right he got better and better and that’s part of the evolution

of skill that’s how skill develops you don’t start out just having it you you invest the time this is why simply taking you know know a one movie sword fighting course or class rather is not enough you go they got you know you see some seminar you go you take it and you think you got you’re ready for a movie Sword fighting C audition or something no you’re not going to it’s highly unlikely that you will look good and that you will even retain the skills even of the next day right this is why we design the online master courses because you get good with solo training that’s just how it works with anything any musician a singer talk to any artist who has accomplished and they’re going to tell you that they got good investing time in themselves focusing on themselves it’s not working out with other people that’s part of the process yet even without having other people you can still become really really good right and so with the online master courses that we have you know you can watch the instructionals over and over

movie sword training how and over again even you have to step away for a few months for whatever reason and you come back is right there you don’t have to work you know be concerned about when the class is being offered or something like that and we we share this with you not to again promote the master course that so that you understand the tools that you have to leverage for your career 6 months from now you have movie Sword you know training right there and you can get up in your house in your apartment in your backyard anywhere and start training and

sword fight training movie, movie sword training how, movie sword training online youtube free
continue to grow your career there’s nothing holding you back you know not the classes aren’t being offered there you know person’s teaching these people you won’t teach you people encounter this stuff you know actor action actors and St performers encounter these things all around the world they you know this is what happens yet with these online master courses that we offer all that’s taken away so just know you can get really good practicing by yourself that’s how everyone who’s good gets good so don’t think that you need to have a training partner to be able to get started and a training partner to be good it’s all about investing in you
