So we’re gonna share with you some safe options. What other people buy and use?
Now I’m actually an experienced stunt coordinator in armor for film and TV turned director is something I actually planned from the beginning of my career, even attending a graduating film school as a director, along my journey, I learned that being a stunt coordinator and armor may be a better director and being a director may be a better stunt coordinator armor.
Now how this benefits you is I can share with you insights and experience from both sides of the camera as well if you’re all phases of production. Okay, so let’s go down to it.
How To Buy A Movie Prop Gun TIP 1:
Here’s what to buy fake guns, not real ones. So we’re gonna go on record saying that you want fake movie prop guns do not buy real guns.
Some people have it in their head. Don’t do that. Uh, ideally you wanna invest in a movie prop gun that comes with two. Right. And most of the time they’ll come with one, you have to buy a spare one. So you, you want to get two magazines. And the reason for this is because you want to be able to learn practice and do cool looking cinematic, reloads, like you see in the following clip from John wick.
All right. So we’re going to show you all the options, uh, that you have available and the, uh, once you have all the options, you’re gonna decide what works best for you. If we’re gonna share with, with you all the options, as well as any risks that are involved with it, as well as rewards. All right.
How To Buy A Movie Prop Gun TIP 2:
So the first option movie prop gun option one is actually using a solid rubber or plastic, uh, movie prop gun. And these are just some examples of this is these. This is actually still rubber as well. We use these more. So like if someone, if an actor, stunt performer has to drop a gun on set, you know, or, you know, something like that, they get thrown in the, in the Episcopal flying too. So we’ll substitute in a rubber..
Yet, Uh, this is what some people use. Now, the benefit with, with rubber solid, uh, plastic or rubber, and you can see there’s no place for a magazine to go in. There are no moving parts. It literally is a piece of rubber. There’s not even a trigger on the thing. Even with the black one, the black ones, it’s a different color. How to buy a movie prop guns, how to buy a movie prop gun blank, how to buy a movie prop gun from amazon, how to buy a movie prop guns that fire blanks, how to buy a movie prop gun buy, cheap cosplay, how to buy a movie prop gun disclaimer, how to buy a movie prop gun disclaimer, how to buy a movie prop gun Hollywood, how to buy a movie prop gun home holster, how can a movie prop gun kill you, where to get prop guns for movies, how to buy a movie prop gun legally Georgia Los Angeles
It’s the same thing right now. The, the, uh, reward, the benefit for it is it is, has weight to it. So it simulates the, the weight of an actual pistol. Uh, plus it has the shape and feel of a pistol. So you can still practice, you know, shooting and firing, you know, all, a lot of the other, uh, techniques with it, uh, even doing tactical movements and things.
Now the things that are cons will say cons are that there’s no trigger. So you can’t practice any of the trigger movements. Right. And like I said before, there’s no magazine. So you can’t practice any of the reloads. And when you do you have skills like a reloads, you give more camera time, actor or stunt performer.
You give more camera time because that’s pure production value. And that’s what pro uh, what producers and directors want, production value. And if you’re the actor or stunt performer who knows how to do a, uh, a cinematic reload and rest the people around you, don’t, you’re gonna wind up getting featured in the shot.
They’ll tell a DP, you know, focus on, on this woman, focus on this guy, favor them in the shot. So, and cinematic reloads, just like you saw in previous clip from John wick look awesome. And the audience loves it. So you can’t really do that with these, uh, yet they are very safe, cuz there’s nothing that comes out of them. They’re just a solid piece of rubber.
Now, if you wish to buy them, just simply do an online search for plastic training guns, and they’ll usually run anywhere from 15 to $30 or more. There’s really some high end professional ones don’t make a plastic, right? Yet they cost the heck of a lot more. So that’s option one, plastic or rubber, uh, movie prop guns.
How To Buy A Movie Prop Gun TIP 3:
Movie prop gun option two are BB guns, old, old fashioned BB guns.
Right? These are ones. Mother or grandmother. Great. Grandmother would always warn kids to be careful. They could shoot their eye out with it. And they and grand mom and mom were right. More kids shot their eyes out because of these things. These are the, uh, they’re still very popular. Uh, BB guns, the BB guns are different because if you notice there’s like this little handle on the bottom, some of ’em don’t have that yet. This is all of common feature and why this is there. Is, you can take this off and inside their power usually, uh, by CO2 and they’ll you put a little container, a CO2 inside, and then you screw this handle in the little thing in there and it pressurizes. And what happens is they fire a little steel BB, right?
You may have seen them they fire like a little ball bearing. Uh, oftentimes the magazines load right in the top, there’s like a little rectangular thing that loads right into the top, and then you can fire them. Uh, the thing is though, you don’t want that. You don’t wanna fire ’em so don’t buy any DB’s number one, you don’t have to buy any, any, any, uh, CO2 number two, because you’re just using it to train with.
The other thing is here’s a way you can get them a good deal on these and get them for cheap is when you go to buy them, ask the store or website owner, if they have any broken ones. Because you don’t need it to work, right? The broken ones, how are you gonna sell it? They’ll just be sitting in the back for spare of parts or they’re gonna, you know, earmark them to throw them away. They have no use for a broken BB gun, especially if it’s not some high end one that they can actually repair. So that’s how you really good deals you can say. Listen, I don’t need to shoot. I’m not trying to shoot anything. I just wanna practice with it. You know, I’m a, I’m an actor or stunt performer. I’m a filmmaker. I’m gonna do some choreography. Do you have any broken. And you can be amazed at you get 90% off, you know, cuz they just want to get rid of this stuff. So that’s one of the, the cool things you can do. Just remember if you buy a BB gun, don’t buy any BBS. So there’s no danger, uh, to find them call a local retailer, like some of the major retailers, uh, actually carry BB guns still. And uh, or you can also do an online search for BB guns, pistols. Do online search of BB guns pistols, and you’ll see a variety of them that come up and you can just find one that you actually it’ll catch your eye. The one that you like will just kind of jump out at you. And then that’s the one that you actually want to get.
Where To Get Prop Guns For Movies TIP 4:
Movie prop gun option three, airsoft guns.
And you may have heard of airsoft before. Uh, they are, these are some examples of them. They are, uh, plastic, essentially BB guns. Yet the BBS a fire are made of plastic and much lighter than the steel BB guns. The, the still guns from before actually hurt you. If you shoot, uh, someone with it, these are more, the BBS that airsoft comes with it. Get you little white plastic balls. And so something to know is that these are safe to use at airsoft fields all around the, the us and even around the world. Uh, the minimum, usually legal age for kids when an AOF range is 12 years. So you have 12 years old who run around. I mean, with stuff like machine guns, not just tame stuff like this, this is really a 12 year old would not want this. This is how lame these are. They have machine guns, mini guns and stuff. Right? So for a grown adult to actually, uh, uh, practice with this is, is totally safe, especially when you understand, you know, how to use them. Uh, if, when you’re getting the same rules applies with the, the previous, uh, the BB gun, ask them for broken ones, there’s always broken ones.
Think about it. You got 12 year old. And by the way, that’s the minimum age for airsoft, Randy, that, you know, kids much younger than that, get them for Christmas and their birthday to run around their backyard and stuff in their house using it too. Yeah. Kids break the stuff up all the time. So, uh, the stores often have some supply of broken airsoft guns.
Now what you see here? This is actually one, one of my first ones that I train with and I teach classes with, we just painted it blue. It, this is the exact same one as this one. Uh, the blue color is like a global, globally recognized training color. So the moment you see it is it is like a blue gun. People know it’s instantly, you know, a, uh, a training gun, uh, yet the same, uh, another benefit if you get one of these, and these are probably about 15 to $18, and remember you want to get a one, a spare magazine, see, and this is one that comes with it.
And then the spare magazine, which is about 10 bucks more. So you look at maybe 25, 20 $6 for this, that’s it it’s a one time investment. The last you most likely for your entire career, right? That’s what they look like. Now, the other benefit though, is you don’t have to pay yours blue. This one is one that we actually use. This is the same model yet we actually painted this and we use this in movies, actual movies, because it looks completely real, even when you’re doing the reloads, right. It looks completely real. I don’t know if you can see all the little Silverlake paint we put on it. yet. Uh, we don’t use this one for closeups, right? how to buy a movie prop guns, how to buy a movie prop gun blank, how to buy a movie prop gun from amazon, how to buy a movie prop guns that fire blanks, how to buy a movie prop gun buy, cheap cosplay, how to buy a movie prop gun disclaimer, how to buy a movie prop gun disclaimer, how to buy a movie prop gun Hollywood, how to buy a movie prop gun home holster, how can a movie prop gun kill you, where to get prop guns for movies, how to buy a movie prop gun legally Georgia, Los Angeles.
Instead of that type of action stuff, we use other ones for closeups one I’ll show you later yet. This is fine. This is fine for, uh, background actors and things like that. So if you’re a content creator, $25, this is what you have. And you can actually go to our website. We have a blog on how to make fake guns, uh, look real. So you actually learn how to actually make look real. So again, with these, uh, make sure you get spare magazine. This is what most of our students of our master course, and even our previous paid classes always get are these type of, uh, guns. They’re the best to train with, cuz they’re the most realistic they simulate.
Here’s another one, they simulate, you know, a actual guns. So you can actually. Practice doing reloads, you know, tactical, reloads, speed, reloads, all sorts of things, you know, do, uh, malfunction, clearing malfunctions, do scene work and everything with them, with these. And they’re perfect. They’re the perfect training implement that you need now to find them, once again, all you do is you, you can go online and you just search for a local airsoft store. That’s the ideal because you can pick it up and hold it in your hands. You can, you can find out what it feels like before you. The thing with buying something online, if you don’t know what it feels like in your hand, right?
Yeah. When you go to the store, you can feel like a few of them say, you know what? I like the way this feels. And then that’s the one that you actually buy. Plus, like we mentioned before, they may have broken ones that you can get literally for pennies on the dollar. If you don’t have one local to you, and that means you can go get one right now, that’s the other thing. It’s like the immediacy, you can get one right now. The other thing is, if you’re gonna do a, gonna buy one online, you can do an online search for a pistol aerosol pistol. For sale. Or AOL pistols for sale near me, obviously near me usually is gonna bring out the local stores. It also bring up websites too.
These are the, you know, some of the best options that people love. They get the most benefit from training with airsoft. And these are plastic. These aren’t metal, this is very important. All three of these are plastic, so they’re light yet. They still have enough weight that they simulate the real thing.
And they’re very inexpensive all under 30 bucks. You know, and that’s with the spirit magazine. So these are like the best options for most people. And, uh, and also very safe. One last thing don’t buy the BBS. Don’t don’t even bother with it. Don’t even play around and shoot a couple BBS don’t even buy them. You don’t, you don’t need the BBS cause you’re just gonna use them for, for your, uh, movie prop gun training.
Now, one sign, note, different people feel differently about matter. Some people are raised in gun cultures where it’s an integral part of your life, just like a, you know, toothbrush or fork or something. And some people are still like, oh, guns. Right? So if you feel it all uncomfortable, you know, buying, uh, a movie prop guns, then just get one of the, the solid rubber or plastic ones.
It’s completely fine. Remember you won’t be able to do the, the reloads and the other stuff is you can still do the majority of the training and after you get comfortable with it. After a while you may feel more comfortable and then you can invest in a plastic one for your training. So if this is where you’re comfortable, starting, then start here. That’s where your journey begins. It’s a, it’s a good start. Later on. You can move up to something like this either way. It’s fine. It’s all about what you are comfortable doing, what you’re safe with and it’s your journey.
Now, the next thing we’re gonna show you are. There are still airsoft guns. And these are the more high end ones. These ain’t 30 bucks. right. These are movie caliber, uh, airsoft pistols. So once again, this is a professional trainer for Baretta, M nine. And you know, it has blow back action. This, uh, I was like almost 200 bucks for this thing, right. It, it is actually heavier than a real Baret. The Beretta M nine yet these are things that we actually use in movies.
And you can see this is all steel, all metal, and this is all plastic. If you see it looks exactly the same and it functions the exact same yet, for some people, you know, usually the guys, they want to get high end stuff to practice with, cuz they may use it like in their own projects or also for their own real and stuff.
So this is a Beretta M nine. This is about 150 bucks. These are probably less. Now this is the same thing the military uses to train with, you know? Um, and then. There, this is also a block. Now, again, a high end item, depending on where you go, you can get them for anywhere from like $90 to like $200 for airsoft.
Yes. Yeah. These are movie calories, right? And they look just like, you know, the real thing, and these are game perfect for you to train with and they still fire the same little plastic BBS, like the other one. Right. There’s still an option. Some people want to train with it because they that’s how they’re, they’re comfortable with it. They may like guns. They may been in the military. They, you know, and these are the things that you can use. And these literally are the ones that you’ll be using on set. Sometimes you will use this. Sometimes we’ll have the plastic ones, you know, yet many times it’s gonna be these, uh, heavy metal ones. So these are good to use as well.
The same things applies with the previous ones on how you find them. You know, at the same AOL stores, they’re usually gonna have more of the, of the higher end stuff anyway, at airsoft stores than the, the, uh, less expensive stuff. Just remember, don’t buy BBS either, you know, just use them as they are and don’t get any CO2 or gas. You don’t need that for your training.
Where To Get Prop Guns For Movies TIP 5:
Movie, prop gun tip five.
Now we’ll cover movie prop gun safety rules in the next video. Yet for now, never point them at yourself or anyone else do not play around. You be a surprise how many actors have done that? Plus keep your finger off the trigger, which is this thing here at all times until you’re ready to fire. So the, the entire time you’re gonna keep your finger right here is just called the frame. When you’re holding, when your hands and again, in our after course, we cover all this. We’re granular with him. He’s taking step by step with you for right now, since you’re about to buy. I just know that, okay. The other thing is empathizes enough. Don’t buy the BBS, everyone. Some people like to buy the BBS and say, let me just take a couple of shots with this thing and shoot it around their backyard or something. Don’t do it. There’s no point if you get the little plastic bag with BBS and it just throw any trash, you don’t need them, right? Not for movie.Uh, not for movies. If you wanna actually get airsoft and go and shoot and play airsoft and get another airsoft. Uh, strictly for that. So this airsoft is for playing airsoft and this one is by movie prop gun, and I never use it for anything else. So that’s how you usually do it.
Now. One other thing you can do to make these even safer, this is what other people have done. You actually disable them. And one of the things like you’ll notice on the one that I use is if you can see inside, right? There’s a little plug in there. Oh, and what that is, is it just a little piece of tape? You can get some duct tape. And you ball it up. Cause like, if you had a little piece of paper and you ball it up the duct tape though, and you could even turn the duct tape inside out. So the sticky parts on the outside, and then you just put it in the end of the muzzle right here. And you take like a, a little sticker twig and you just press it inside. So you got this, you know, wide of sticky, uh, duct tape that you put in there and you press it inside and it looks like that. . And so even when you’re practicing and doing scene work with a partner or something, you’re still never pointing it at them yet. You let your partner know, Hey, I got that in here too. And yet just show that much safer because they know there’s athlete no way anything can come out of the barrel. So that’s one way and a very good way. Very simple tip. It could be an electrical tape. Doesn’t can beginning it kind of tape you, ball it up. So there’s sticky parts on the outside, then jam it in there. Right?
The other way is this. This is more with the, the high. The high end one. So if you notice, when I drop the mag, this is where you would load the BBS in one of these. And then you, like, there’s this little thing that you slide down that loads the BBS.
So all you do is if you see that that’s a piece of cardboard, so you can get a little piece of cardboard or paper, and this is where you would actually load them. This is actually usually where you would load the, the, uh, BB. So in that place, you claw that. You, you put, you can put a piece of, uh, vault up paper cardboard in there.
So there’s no way that someone could even come along like some fluke, you know, and get in there. So the, so as long as that paper’s in there, there are no BB can go inside this. And, uh, and, and it will still load though. And still op it’ll still load and operate smoothly, you know, eliminate on an actual pistol. Doesn’t mess it up or anything.
And so those are just two other things you can do to, uh, to make your prop movie prop guns, even safer, and also to make your scene partner. If you’re doing scene work, feel even more comfortable as well.
Lastly, our final movie prop gun tip six.. Yet before we cover that, check this out.
Let’s take a sneak peek and look inside this master course that was made by pro armors for film, TV, stunt coordinators, actors, and film makers or professional actors, stunt performers and filmmakers and content creators.
By the way, if you’re a veteran or experience with firearms, you’re gonna learn how to convert your skills into moves in TV. So you can see here. First of all, we designed our platform to be intuitive and easy to use. The moment you log into it with your, on your computer or your phone.
Pretty much understand exactly what’s going on and you know how to navigate it right away. Now, each of our master courses starts off with an introduction. So you get to meet your instructors as well as a safety briefing. Let’s go ahead and take a look quick. Look at these at this. Now, those who can’t teach, see the instructors go over there.
You other qualifications or background, that kind of thing. And also you get a cheat sheet which will cover in a moment. This is a handout that accompanies, uh, the course. Helps you to lock in what you’re learning, plus our private online social community, which we’ll cover a little bit later on. You also get our email address and contact information to be able to contact us with any question that you may have now, as you can see, our innovative master course platform shows you if you finished the instructional or not, or how much of it you did learn, you know, so if you notice each one is broken down into units, but each of these are, and each of these units are broken down into classes or video instructional.
And it makes it easier to, to group everything together. Each of the instructional are videos and they’re about 10 minutes long. There are a few that might be a little bit longer because they have to be for the most part. They’re about 10 minutes long. We like to keep it bite size and it makes it easier, more effective for you to learn
One of the other great things about the platform is if you’re studying and you’re, you know, watching or learning some of the videos and say, you know, you’re watching it the day and you get busy and you can’t watch it a game for like a week, you know, in a week’s time. And I can remember what you learned last, you gotta look through all these videos and figure out where you left off.
Our platform design. It tells you which instructional, which classes you completed. Right? And then it tells you how much, what percentage of the unit you actually completed. So this is 50% complete. So two classes were done and there’s two left. So in a week’s time, you know, to start right here. So with this one, these are pro screen tests with pistol revolver, as tactical reloads speed reloads.
A lot of the classes don’t teach you how to do this, cuz there’s not enough time to teach someone to do all this stuff, you know, in a two or three hour session. Take a look at, uh, cinematic pistol reloads, looking at the tactical reload. Let’s gonna take a look at this one. Now see how this looks, use his hand and insert to do magazine, put the old, put the old magazine into his pocket and it resumes firing.
Now we great things that we include are what we call live action video displays and what these are, are things that we are they’re clips from actual movie. Or even live training sessions where you actually can see the techniques being used in movies, TV, or real life. And it really helps you to lock in the, uh, the lessons.
Let’s go ahead and we’re gonna take a look at one of them now and you see everything that you’re learning. You see how it actually is used in a, in a movie. Let’s go ahead and take a look at the tactical pistol disarmed, triple play. These are pistol disarms, some of the most famous pistol disarms that have been used in film and TV history.
Sure. I’m gonna go over here. Turn it around fire bang, bang. Okay. Again again, we’re leveraging the off body aiming technique. You know when we’re doing that. And whenever we train, we train with solid rubbers, here’s the same kind of pistol disarm from the movie, John wick. And we have these in here. So you actually can take a look at it.
So let’s take a look at one now and see how it actually plays out.
Doesn’t that look familiar? This one is our monthly sharpen and polished video conference lab. Each month we do this and it’s designed to actually help you with your career. Try our pistol and revolver master course for 48 hours, risk free. after reviewing the master course, if you don’t like what you see and it doesn’t work for you, we’ll refund every penny who else lets you go through their movie gun training.
And then if you’re not happy gives you a complete refund. bottom line, we’re passionate about making our customers happy and keeping them that way. So well worth 10 times the investment. If you’re serious about learning pistol and revolver, movie gun training to grow your.
How To Buy A Movie Prop Gun TIP 6:
So our final movie prop gun training tip is, do not buy these.
The first thing you do not want to buy and you see the image now on the screen are blank, guns, blank guns can kill you. When you heard of actors getting killed on set. Historically, they were usually from blank guns. The, uh, if you look at the image in the bottom corner, those are actual blanks. So the blanks, when you see them look different from actual bullets and you, if you’re online or something and you’re looking, they will tell you for the blank gun, you’re not gonna confuse an aerosol gun with a blank gun.
So it is very clear, uh, if they look different than actual bullets and believe are not, blanks are actually louder than actual bullets as well. So the key thing is when you, uh, for blank guns, blanks, there are actually objects that actually fly out. And people don’t realize that, you know, they had actors before who played Russian roulette.
Didn’t realize that, you know, the, uh, they still had things that flew out of them, put it through his head, blew his brains out. You know, other things have, I’m not, would’ve gone all that right now. You don’t buy blank guns. And so what you see on, on the screen that image is an example of a blank gun. So if you’re online and you see them, don’t get that.
You don’t want to practice with that. If you have a production coming up, this is something the armor would bring. You want the armor to handle all this type stuff. These are the things that can get people. And you don’t wanna practice with these. You don’t wanna play with these, have a, a, uh, an actual, professionally trained and experienced armor for film TV using any type of blank guns.
So do not get them. This includes starter guns too, right? Uh, if you wanna learn more about them, educate yourself with this stuff, right? If you wanna learn more about blank guns doing online search for what are blank guns, and you have a bunch of articles and stuff that’ll come up and you’ll, you’ll know about it.
The more you educate yourself about this stuff, the more comfortable you’re gonna. And the more confident you’re gonna feel as an industry profession. Now, the second thing not to get are real live firearms, uh, real life firearms chamber and fire real bullets, right? There’s no confusing them. They, they look, you know, they, they look and feel differently.
Uh, we bring this up because some people who tend to, I use the term experienced shooters, the experienced shooters loosely, they may have been shooting for a long time. Uh, they’ll use something. There’s a type of training called dry fire training where you use a, uh, a pistol. This is an aerosol. Remember? Yeah.
This say, if this was a real firearm and you just don’t put any bullets in it and you can practice drawing and firing at targets with no bullets. And every time you pull a trigger, you know, you’re firing, you’re dry firing bang, bang, bang, right. And they’ll do this to, to perfect, you know, the smooth out their technique.
You know, their, their get their site picture to get their draw together. It’s called dry firing. And so they’ll get used to that. Some of them will get invest in, you know, like plastic or rubber bullets or something called, uh, one brand named the snap camps. And, uh, and that’s what they’ll use a practice with.
Don’t do that for this right movie gun prop training. You wanna use a movie gun prop? That’s it a movie prop gun, nothing else. I’ll use a real firearm, some, uh, things that other people have done. Is that they’ve taken the firing pin out of a real firearm say, okay, look, there’s no firing pin. There’s no way I can fire. Yeah. True enough yet is just the, the concept you don’t wanna deal with cuz that’s how mistakes get made. Right? So, uh, whether you move the firing pin or you have you doing dry fire or you’re doing Snap that, don’t do it. It’s not, this is like $15 come on. Right. And all it takes is one mistake and mistakes happen all the time. You know, even if it’s one out of a thousand, the more you practice, you know, the number’s gonna catch up with you. So whatever you do do not train with real firearms. Don’t do dry fire training for movies and stuff. If you’re doing it for tactical, you know, you’ve already taken some training with a, a, a tactical firearms instructor or NRA certified instructor or something.
That’s a different story. If you’re, if you’re doing that specifically within a context of film and TV, do not train with live firearms when you’re practicing the stuff. Once you have your practice movie prop gun, you’re ready to get started. In our next video, we’re gonna cover live fire gun safety rules versus movie set gun safety rules.
