Online Stunt Training vs In-Person Stunt Training: What’s Best For Beginners?

We get a lot of questions from aspiring action actors and stunt performers across the US and around the world about what they should do first – Online Stunt Training or In-Person Stunt Training. Yet that’s not really what they want. They all have one common desire, they want to learn how to perform stunts, stunt fighting and action sequences for reasons ranging from to get cast in more film and TV roles to putting together a fight / action reel to send out to various productions and stunt coordinators.

It’s this thinking that causes both action actors and stunt performers to lose focus on what’s important in the beginning. It’s OK for you to want to get booked and make more money yet your primary goal in the beginning should be to… GET GOOD FIRST!

Many action actors and stunt performers never realize their true potential because they focus first on trying to book gigs and making money first instead of getting good at their craft.

So What Does ‘Get Good First’ Mean?

It means focusing on building a strong foundation in stunts and action sequences so that there are no holes in your training or your skills. This means knowing how to warm up and condition your body properly, how to do a variety of low falls and Pratt falls, how to do stunt fighting, how to safely and properly perform a variety of action sequences, how to run your new business (and that’s what you actually have as an action actor or stunt performer) properly and MOST IMPORTANTLY how to effectively market yourself so that you have a productive and long lasting career.

There are no shortcuts on the path to success. Yet there are people and resources who can help you get through certain phases much faster than trying to do it on your own 😉. Enter in-person stunt seminars and the Best online stunt training (that should come with great online reviews).

So it’s OK to want to learn the art of stunts and the action sequences to book more roles or to put together a reel yet in the beginning make those secondary. Instead, primarily focus on laying a strong foundation for your craft and your career.

So What Is The Answer to ‘Online Stunt Training vs In-Person Stunt Training: What’s Best For Beginners?’

The correct answer is to lay a strong foundation with the ideal training combination that we always recommend – BOTH in-person and online stunt training. We’ve found that you get the best results with the combination of the two. If you can find local classes in your area to attend (they tend to be sporadic and unpredictable) attend those classes.

What you’ll find is that they often don’t teach very much per session nor do they teach very often. Yet they do help you to learn and acquire new skills, network with industry contacts/ professionals and even sometimes make new friends.

To round out your training, ONLINE stunt training is the best because you can access it anytime you want on your schedule and it teaches you far more than you could ever learn in person at a stunt school or seminar.
